GammonZone Tournament Rules
Welcome to the Zone Endorsed GammonZone Tournaments. The Zone Code of Conduct is posted at the Zone Welcome page. Please be sure to review the Code - it is your responsibility to comply with it.
*** Tournament Rules to follow *** Quiet Please *** Show Proper Deference for the Grand Reading of the Rules of GammonZone Backgammon Tournament Play
1. This is a SINGLE ELIMINATION Tournament. You must win your match to advance to the next round. All matches are to 3 points (FINAL match is 5 points). If a match is not set correctly, leave your table, come back, and restart with 3 points.
2. Assignments and all other Tournament Statements will be typed by the Host and/or CoHost only. Microsoft does not allow the use of all capital letters in the lobby.
3. For the first round, players must be at their assigned table by the tournament start time. If you are not ready to play when the Host starts the tournament, YOU WILL BE REPLACED immediately.
4. Doubling is allowed. However, AUTO-DOUBLE must be set to OFF. Also, the Crawford rule is enforced by the game program. CRAWFORD RULE: When a player first reaches within one point of winning the match, in the next game ONLY, the trailing player cannot double. The Zone program handles this automatically.
5. Please ensure that your match is completed before leaving the table. Match WINNERS only REPORTS RESULTS like this: ****** me over you @ table # ****** Please use the "*"s and don't forget the table number, it helps a lot!
6. Anyone gone for TEN (10) minutes, or four (4) times per match, will FORFEIT THE ENTIRE MATCH, regardless of the score. Players, please report missing or booted opponents promptly.
7. You may watch any match in progress; however, you may not disrupt the game play. Kibitzers may be silenced by either player, but we ask that you leave kibitzing ON so that the Host may view your match.
8. If you are DOUBLED please READ THE DIALOG BOX carefully! If you resign when you meant to accept the double, or accept the double when you meant to resign, we CANNOT restore your game.
9. Any disputes, problems or questions should be addressed to the CoHost first, then the Host. We are always out here while you are playing.
10. Sometimes you must wait for another table to finish to be assigned your next match. Please be patient - we will make the assignments as soon as possible.
11. For FIRST ROUND ONLY, DO NOT BEGIN PLAY until instructed by the HOST. We must have all players seated correctly before the tournament can start. FOR SECOND and ALL FOLLOWING ROUNDS, you may start immediately when both players are seated.
12. No one may play in two tournaments at the same time. Anyone doing so will forfeit their GammonZone match and receive no tournament points. We consider a ladder match or rated game to be equivalent of a tournament for this rule.
13. To expedite the tournament, ALL MATCHES (except the final) are LIMITED TO ONE HOUR. After one hour, unfinished matches will be awarded by the Host based on the match score or the pip count if the match is tied.
14. Backgammon is lots of fun (don't you think?), let's keep it that way!
=============== And now Your Host and CoHost will complete checking tables. Late players MAY be assigned in a few minutes. Please wait quietly and DO NOT START until instructed by the Host! Thanks. ===============
